Default Weight Limit

I am trying to figure out what is the weight limit I can haul in the bed of my truck. I am having a retaining wall put up this weekend by some friends since I cannot do the work due to spinal injuries and surgeries, I am needing to haul rock/sand.... I did 1 scoop of sand ( 3 cubic yards ) at 1750 pounds and it took the rear of the truck down 1/2 way what the unloaded distance of the wheel well to the tire was...
Here is the specs on the door tag for any info needed to calculate...
1500 club cab, short box,4x4,360...

Date of Manufacture 4-97
GVWR
2903KG ( 6400 lb. )

GAWR
Front 1747KG ( 3850 lb. )
Rear 1633KG ( 3600 lb. )

3500 front axle Dana 4
Rear chrysler 9.25

Thanks for your help on this info.......

This is a quote from GTYANKEE:

"go to this website & follow all the prompts for your vehicle

http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/year.pdf

look at the tire sizes & other things too, when you get to the load, trailer towing part

like in my '09 ram 1500, i can put only 1570 pounds in the empty truck, that is counting people, beer, cameras, etc
then i can put 6,700 pounds on the trailer hitch, that is everything, empty trailer, beer coolers, empty cans "

In my 2010 with the 3.55 gears as equiped I can only put 1300 pounds in the empty truck.

Sounds like an overloaded situation you had before.

you figure your payload weight by

Payload
The sum resulting from subtraction of the curb weight from
the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR).

1997 Dodge Ram 1500 2 wheel drive 4X4 weigh more, thus can haul less
Weights: gross vehicle weight rating (kg) 2,903 (6400 lbs), curb weight (kg) 1,833 (4041 lbs), gross trailer weight braked (kg) 1,633, front axle weight (kg) 1,656, (3651 lbs) rear axle weight (kg) 1,769 (3900 lbs) and max legal load (kg) 1,075 ( 2370 lbs)

My math may be wrong & the website that i got most of the info from may be incorrect

1000 lbs is 1/2 ton
1500 lbs is 3/4 ton
2000 lbs is 1 ton
