Default Resonator Removal

Has anyone with single exhaust removed their resonator? I have a 2011 Outdoorsman with a Hemi, but would like to hear the motor a little, instead of just seeing the tach climb. My concern is that it might sound strange when it goes into 4 cylinder mode. Do the factory duals sound like garbage when MDS kicks in? As much as I would have liked to have the factory duals, this Outdoorsman had everything else I was looking for and more.

I'd go the other direction...swap out the stock muffler for an aftermarket one and leave the resonator on.

You are correct in assuming it will sound really bad without a resonator when it slips into MDS mode.

My friend removed the exhaust from before the muffler back so it's dumped under the cab on his and it sounds good even when mds kicks in

I had the muffler changed to a Dynomax and left the resonator alone on my '09 slt hemi. Sounds way better than the stock, not to much louder and sounds a whole lot better, it was a direct swap no piping had to be changed. Nice thing is the pipe is 3" so it flows good already. I will go this route again for my next truck. MDS cuts in it does get and different tone for sure deeper and weaker sound. good thing I have the 3:55's so it doesn't go to MDS to often!
