Default Emissions Problem

I live in a town called Spring tx 40 miles out of Houston tx and sometime last month my vapor recovery on the top end of my gas tank snapped off so naturally my check engine light came on the week of me needing my inspection ive herd rumors of some kind of liquid you put in your gas tank that will permit me to pass because my truck is registered in Houston i have to pass the emissions part ive patched the hose for the time being because right now im not really set to drop 500 bucks on a new tank im basicly asking is there anyway to pass my inspection without buying a new tank
