Default Tranny upgrade

So I'm pretty sure my trans is on it's way out, it's making a clicking noise whenever I drive (like a rock in my tires or something like that) and I've been told by a few mechanics I need a new one. It still drives great in my opinion, but I was wondering if anyone has advice on good upgrades and stuff if I decide to rebuild it or get a new one. I'd like do some mudding every now and then, but nothing too serious, I guess mainly something that will last longer than a stock dodge trans. Thanks.

Local trans shops know what to do with these transmissions. I wouldn't deviate too much from the stock spec but they will have upgraded components (shift forks, bearings, etc...) they will use in the rebuild.

Most Transmission Shop, on a new automatic tranny will upgrade to a better clutches, springs and bands package for these transmission. First time around I did a rebuilt and 45thousand miles later it went out. I will NEVER again by a rebuilt. This time I brought a new transmission with a up graded package. Can tell the differents on how it shifts.
