Default 4.7 fix

does anyone know a sure fix for the cold start tap or tick or knock or whatever you want to call it. i had the whole timing set replaced a few weeks ago but did not fix the problem and has the exhaust manifolds checked also so i know thats not the problem if anyone knows what the noise is and what a sure fix is that would be great

My truck did it since I bought it. Tried to chase it down for a while and finally figured it to be a manifold gasket leak.

Thats not what it is, I cant remember the exact explanation for it but its harmless. I fixed it by ignoring it.

I have been wondering about this too. For now I have ignored it, but was going to check the manifold bolts to make sure they are all tight. Seems to happen more when it is colder outside more than when it warms up a bit.

Must be a 4.7 thing my 08 has done since new , Chrysler didn't seem worried about it .
if you have a cold air intake it does make it sound way louder.

Have the same issue. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I read in another post to check the exhaust manifold bolts. A friend of mine brought his brand new 2005 back to the dealer 5 times for it. Nothing changed. He told me it's normal.
