Default Need Help with tires and rims

Here is my question, I have a 08 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 and I just installed a leveling kit. I am going to change out the rims and tires and I am wondering if someone could tell me what would be the best rim size and the largest tire i could put on without rubbing.
thanks

Hi and a warm Carolina welcome to the best RAM ForumZ on the web. How about using the link in my SIG to drop in the Newbie Checkin to introduce yourself and posting a few photos of your truck?

I've read the most common is to go with 35/12.50 20 with the 20" wheel or similar with the 17" wheel

There isn't really a "best" rim size, it's just what you want.
You really have to look around to see what you want rim wise. There are so many different choices it's stupid.
Some of the more popular brands are the KMC XD series, Fuel Offroad, and Motometal, to name a few.

35x12.5s might be pushing it if you don't want any rubbing.
With a -12mm offset on the rims, you might be able to fit them, but I can't say for sure.

Like said above there is not best wheel sizes. I would say a 18" rim would be good (I personally like 20"s) because they are cheaper and so are the tires for them. I think anything less then 18" is too small, but rims are purely personal. If price is not a big deal then go with 20s.

If you have a leveling kit then the recommended size is 33" by all manufacturers. Some member on here have shuved 35s on with just a leveling kit. If you go right on he middle then that would be right. When choosing a rim look at the tire specs that you want. What I am talking about is the rim qidtg. Try and get a rim with that is closer to the tire width. This will make the tires look better since there is no ballooning of them, this will also help with rubbing since the tires will be a bettr shape.

It depends on the way you level your truck on whether or not you can stack them.
I know that you can stack a suspension lift with a body lift and then add Bilsteins; a couple people have done that. (Scat did that, actually)

35 inches is the max you can go with a leveling kit w/o an offset wheel unless your wheel is wider than 9 inches. As far as a suspension lift goes, I believe the kit will replace all of your suspension components while adding struts and stablizers. My best recomendation is to go to a credible tire shop and hit up a credible 4x4 shop where u live and they will advise you on the best applications. I don't have any experience with installs but I've read a lot about them.
