Default Black Goo under dash

I just bought a used 09 Ram, got home and while doing a thorough cleaning noticed some black goo coming from passenger side under dash. Any ideas what this is?

When I bought my used 09' last year there was what looked like a small pc of carpet with black goo on it on the passenger side floor up under the dash that had fell down on the carpet. When I saw it I thought the dealer was trying to cover up a hole or something in the carpet and it really bummed me out. When the dealer came out and asked why I was suddenly not interested any more I showed him the black goo on the pc of carpet and he said he would find out what it was. I left the dealership and he later emailed me a pic and everything was cleaned up and was fine. He said it was just a piece of tape or insulation that had fell down from a heater hose repair they had done.

I had this happen on my 09. Mine was under warranty and this fixed it for free. It is some sort of insulation type material from the HVAC system.

Spray insulation or adhesive sometimes gets over used and the excess is eventually forced out.
