Hey guys, I'm looking to paint my truck myself over the summer. It's my daily driver and a slow work in progress. I'm looking for any tips or suggestions you all have. I like the color it is now, flat gray. The hood and roof are the worst with the sun exposure. I'd be sticking to roughly the same color, or maybe go with flat black. Also thinking about scraping off the rest of the badges. Any ideas or warnings?

I think that you have your hands full. The badges will probably have holes under them and are probably held on with clips. Take them off before you undertake the painting so you can fill in these holes if they indeed are back there. Have you thought of having the truck done in one of those Rhino Liner type sprays?

Yea, I have taken some off and they do have holes that will need to be filled in. There's a couple other places that will need body work too, but that will be fixed before the paint. nbd. No, I don't want to rhino liner it. little too much for my taste.

just scuff up the old paint, try not to go down to the primer, except where you have to do body work, it is real easy to go right through the primer to bare metal on edges & curves
