Default Feel Truck Downshift?

When I am coasting and my truck gets to about 45-48 mph, the truck will downshift and you can feel the truck pull back. Similar to a trailer brake pull, where is doesn't yank on to hard, but you definately will notice.

Is this normal is everyone getting the same thing?

Yeup! Mine does it, you get used to it after awhile. In fact I find that when I drive the wifes truck and it doesn't down shift I think something is wrong! Funny how you get used to how a vehicle drives.

are you touching your shifter at all when this happens? You do know that you can manually up and down shift your automatic????

No not playing with the shifter, it is kind of like my Chevy was in tow haul, engine braking. My truck did some knarly downshifts on the interstate, when I was bucking a 40 mph head wind on Memorial day weekend and I was just making sure I didn't have somthing funky going on.

I will work about the interstate downshift some day when i get a trailer on it. Not the easiest high load situation to replicate.

I believe that i only feel braking or downshifting when i have cruise control on, which i do on the highway
we have some long downhill grades near where i live, one is 13 miles long, it goes from 4100 feet to almost sea level
this is a song about that hill, glad the road is paved now 2 separate roads, one up, one down

same drive today

remember this BlueJet?

This is exactly what I was experiencing.

You need to have your dealer perform the TSB discussed here... http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=83226

I had mine done Thursday and it resolved it.

My Dealer performed the flash on my PCM and EVIC today as per the bulletin. The truck shift points are longer and smoother and the "gear hunting" is gone while coasting between 40 and 50 MPH. Vey Pleased
Would have lived with it as it was, if it were not for this forum - THANKS

Working as designed, but there is a TSB to "fix" it. More info here:
