haven't heard anything about all that....and I visit the Cummins site 2-3 times a where are you hearing these rumors from?? if you don't mind me asking

Just off the fact the dodge is the only one with a manual tansmission in the HD trucks I think the last thing they would do is dump the Cummins. It would definitly be more stupid then them making megacabs duallies. They might start using more Mercedes parts but they wont ditch the Cummins in their HD trucks. The fuel mileage with any diesel motor sucks anymore, its not the Cummins its the federal emissions requierments, a different motor isnt going to solve the MPG problem in a 8k lb truck.
I could maybe see a Mercedes or different brand 8 cylinder diesel in a 1500 though. Really unlikely but if it would happen it would be my best guess.
Take everything you hear with a grain of salt, people still think Ford owns Cummins...

I could care less about making noise and black smoke. Diesels are more efficient, powerful and all around superior to gasoline engines.

I've found sources for both WVO and WMO to make my own fuel.
To put the fuel savings in perspective, I could sell my fuel for $1.00 a gallon and profit.

Compare that to the $4.05/Gal I just paid for reg unleaded.

Buddy of mine did an engine swap in a 05 3/4 ton due to it being a lemon truck and the 5.7 falling flat on its face up any grade with the smallest payload. Dropped in a '93 12 valve cummins, had a getrag 360 transmission rebuilt by the local transmission shop and installed. Truck runs perfectly only none of the instrument clusters work and all indicator lights around the gauges are lit up. Apparently this can be solved with a wiring harness. All in all it was a lengthy and costly project. Should You undertake it, be prepared to be fabricating all of Your own engine and tranny mounts, especially in a 1500. Depending on what engine You choose it very well could be and probably will be heavier than your 5.7 and You probably already have a 2 - 2.5 inch rake in the front so youll need to beef up your front end as well. Hopefully your rear diff will be compatible with whatever set up you choose or else you be adapting or replacing that as well. Hope this helps!
