I felt that the part throttle upshift made the most difference out of all the settings, stock setting the truck would shift to soon and to low so it felt sluggish after an upshift until it got back into the power band. I started with 1000rpm over stock then adjust from there after driving for while, getting your shift points were you like them for your driving style and terrain, takes trial and error. My shift points vary between 500 & 1000 above stock , dont be afraid , its a great adjustment. If your not comfortable you can start low and work it from there , maybe about 500 above. I run the 91 oct, with adjustments to All part throttle upshift, WOT upshift, Rev lim in drive, speed lim , throttle sensitivity.

WOT - Put mine at 5810 helps a little, not a big deal

Rev limiter ( in drive) - Reduces the hesitation in between WOT shifts set mine +600

The adjustement listed above are a great trial and error, your not gonna hurt anything, if the truck feels like its rpms are getting to high then just let your foot of the throttle and it will shift, then you can adjust that shift point. The ones I wouldnt screw with unless you absolutly know what your doing are spark and fuel adjustments.

I just went out to try to set my shift points & part throttle upshifts.
I had to start fresh again with the back up factory tune, and then go at it again to reach the TCM mod menu.

All good now - went for a spirited drive - WOW! What an improvement over the plain 87 tune w/12% throttle.

in the upshift menu ... what does "% @ APP" mean?

Is it were it list 1-2 and gives percentages like 10, 20 ,40,60. ( I could be off on the numbers a bit ) but if that's what your talking about, those are the percentage of open throttle that's why the ranges are different. Obviously the range for 60% is gonna be higher than 10% cause you don't want to be shifting from first to second at a high RPM when your only at 10% throttle and visa versa. Also you can change your shift points without starting all over by using the quick adjust menu

Yep, that's what I'm asking bout.
Can I also change the throttle boost % in the quick adjust menu?

Can I assume there will be a QA menu for TCM and PCM?

Today I drove my newly awakened HEMI to work and WOW!
It's like driving an entirely different truck - so responsive in all aspects.

After work, I grabbed pen and paper and went out to re do what I did yesterday, with some organization.

I had to start fresh by installing my back up again today.
Why is this necessary to be able to view the individual engine and trans folders?
I still cannot see or change anything except tire size in the QA menu - what gives with that?

I'm new to this DSP - do I have a faulty unit? or am I misunderstanding something?

I did 87 perf tune, rev limit in D, speed limit, 13% throttle boost, and set my shift point rpms to closely match those of my Grand Cherokee
(which are cable adjustable, and were set up nicely by the local trans guy)
I prefer to stay in each gear a wee bit longer than the stock set up - hilly terrain here.

I wrote down all the stock settings, and my new settings as I set my part throttle upshift points a bit higher than stock. (I did this inside the Trans Perf tune - modify tune).
Should I have done these mods inside the stock trans tune instead?

I've been on the DS forum a good bit, trying to learn and better understand.
Help from real owner experience is invaluable to me right now.
So thanks to all who have chipped in for me here.

I'm open to any and all further knowledge.

Glad to see your having fun with it, modify tune is were I did mine also I think I stated quick adjust earlier . Either way you got, its like any other hi tech tool you just gotta play with it to figure it out. You don't need to remember your stock shift settings, when you reinstall your stock tune it will go back to your stock shift points. I too like to shift higher it helps keep it in the power band which really takes off at about 2800. I drive big trucks everyday at work so I kind of have a natural awareness off the power band and its kind of a pet peeve of mine when a vehicle boggs down. Happy tunning

Here's where I'm at today ..

PCM 87 Perf tune / modified
Rev limit D @6400 (+600rpm)
Rev limit N @4600 (+800rpm)
Speed limit @155
Throttle boost @ 13.5% (I tried 10%,12%, and 12.5%, then found my sweet spot)

TCM perf tune / modified
1-2 up shift WOT@ 5810rpm
2-3 up shift WOT@ 5810rpm

Part throttle up shift ..
1-2 @10% 2517rpm (+800 rpm up from stock)
1-2 @25% 3201rpm (+700)
1-2 @60% 5591rpm (+600)
1-2 @80% 5779rpm (+500)

2-3 @15% 2296rpm (+800)
2-3 @25% 2463rpm (+700)
2-3 @60% 5890rpm (+600)
2-3 @80% 5950rpm (+500)

So far these settings are performing greatly for me in hilly Westmoreland County.

MUCH thanks to FDBDW for his insight.
