Totally agree.
What annoys me is my uncles 1979 3/4 ton 4x4 Chevy got almost 30mpg for 6 months until he took it back into the dealer and it came back getting 10mpg just like his 76 did. This is no BS. The only difference that could be found was that the carbs had been changed. My point is the automakers know how to make all the V-8 get a lot better mileage and they are not doing it. So why not try and be the one that figures out how to get 30mpg out of these monster trucks!!?

I have a 2011 reg cab long box 4x4 with 355s and 17" tires. Have my sticker and it says 15.8 L/100km 18 mi/gal city 10.8 L/100km 26 mi/gal highway. Had to pick my truck up at the train compound due to cryslers disagreement with alied. Avaraged 12.3 L/100km on the 250 mile trip home. since then it has all been mixed driving and am avaraging 16 l/100km. Only have about 1000 km on it and even if it stays as is im happy. Canadian trucks should have a higher estamate as our Gal is 20% larger than the American gal.

Ive often heard that a new engine needs a "break in" period before it will get the best mpg's. Is this a fact? Has anyone here proven this?

I just purchased a brand new 2011 1500 Crew 4x2 and it has only been filled up once since I bought it. Im getting about 16 on the EVIC. Ive been trying to keep it in the sweet spot allowing the ECO to come into play.

Do yall think it will get better after a few tanks of gas once the engine is broke in?

There is no more "breakin period" on new vehicles...IMO all manufactures over state the MPG's.
