Default Serp belt constant squeal.....

did some "spirited driving" the other day and since they I have had a constant squeal, decently loud and as I press the gas it gets lower....

Sprayed some belt dresser on it and it goes away for 1-5 minutes then comes back... so I'm going to look into the tensioner and seeing if maybe its lose or something along those lines....

any ideas?

My '98 with the 5.9l did the same thing but only when it was warm. When it was cold it was quiet as it warmed up it started and got louder. Real loud at idle and it would stop once I was moving. It took a long time to start in the winter but in the summer it only took a couple of minutes. When it first started I tried the belt dressing and it didn't work. I knew it had to be one of the pullys but couldn't figure out which one. I took it to the dealer and told them my thoughts. They changed the belt and couldn't get to make the noise so they said it was good. Once I took it I found that the noise was still there. I didn't get too upset because it needed a belt any way. Figured I would have it taken care of when I had it inspected a few months down the road. It ended up failing inspection with several issues and was gonna cost more than it was worth to fix so I traded it in.

I bought a Dayco belt and I'm about to put it take the other belt off, see if the pullies spin freely and such, and go from there.. I almost bought a idle tensioner pully this morning, but decided to just wait it out and see if I didnt have to spend that extra 70 bucks haha

Thank yall for yalls opinions and such, keep em coming! I'm always up for ideas! lol

well that was easy lol... I took the other belt off, looked at all the pullies, sprayed them with some belt dressing then put the new belt on, and it was fixed.... all of them spun freely and were tight (if that makes sense lol). so now there is no squeal anymore thank god....
