Default question about exhaust

Hey i have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 with 5.7l hemi. I was wondering if i removed mufflers and just had dual exhaust with cats would that void warrenty? If removing the mufflers would it have any effect on the engine or computer?

thank you

Why would you want to remove the muffler?

You can get a better sound and probably better performance by replacing it with a better muffler.

but to answer your question no i dont think it would be an issue for either one but that might depend on where you live

I agree with Stevo. If you replace the stock system with a better flowing catback system, you'd be a lot happier with the sound and performance.

One thing to consider is that if you remove too much restriction, you eliminate the required backpressure to maintain low end torque so don't go too big on an exhaust. For your 5.7L HEMI, I suggest no bigger than 3". Also adding a cold air intake and some form of programming (DiabloSport Predator FTW!!!) will really wake up that HEMI.

The dealer or the manufacturer cannot void your warranty if something fails that is not related to your mods. And, in most cases, they have to prove it contributed to the failure of the component.

So, I'd go with a catback exhaust, a CAI and a programmer on your truck.

This is true...I actually kept the factory pipes when doing the exhaust in my SRT8 because I wanted to keep it at 2.75" instead of going to 3 for that reason...Just changed out the Cats and Mufflers and cut off the resonators
