Default governor pressure sensor

Ok, so a week ago I was about to tow my old camper to a guys house to sell it and on the way to pick it up my check engine light came on. I wasn't surprised because my O2 sensors need to be changed. Came to a stop and the truck was stuck in second gear when I took off. I decided to tow anyway because once I got past that, the truck shifted and ran fine. Had the code read after dealing with all that and it was the 1763 code. I called the dealer monday morning and went to go buy the parts and on my way there the light went out and the truck started shifting fine. I bought the parts anyway, just haven't changed them out yet. Is this thing on its way out and just hasn't died all the way yet? I bought the governor pressure solenoid also because I read theyre both in the same place and might as well swap it out while you have the pan down. Is this the right thing to do????

well, the truck did the same thing the other day. its definitely happening on longer trips. i went like an hour and a half north to pick up some different rims and tires and about halfway there the light came on and then it wouldn't shift down into first gear. after coming home and making a trip in town it would go into first and the light went out. weather finally cleared up so i think i'm gonna drop the pan tonite after work and see what happens after i change out the parts.

Default Its not the sensors....this time

So, I swapped out my sensor and solenoid a few weeks ago and the truck seemed fine. I even towed my 27' 6000lb camper an hour and a half away and it was great. The truck shifted nice, even better going up hills. The truck didn't want to downshift before early enough to keep up speed. Not the issue last weekend. Then it happened, on my way to taking camper back to storage my check engine came on. Stopped at a light and it would not take off in first gear. I tried to manually put it in first gear and that didn't work. Turned the truck off, turned it back on. Now its back in first gear again. WTF??? I talked to a guy who does trans rebuilds and he said that if putting the trans in first manually doesn't work then theres a mechanical issue starting to show its head. ANYBODY PLEASE HELP!!!! What am I possibly looking at??? I love the truck but I don't know if its worth throwing a ton of money at. I'd rather just trade it in and get something bigger.

well, i wound up taking the truck to a dealer to have it looked at. a buddy of mine referred me to a guy at a dealer who has worked on dodges for the last 35 years and knows these trucks and transmissions in and out. apparently the valve body was going out causing the issue. the 1-2 shift valve was hanging up causing the issue defaulting the trans to 3rd gear. also an accumulator spring was starting to go bad letting the trans build pressure between shifts causing the hard shifts i thought was due to bands needing to be adjusted. i geuss the true test will be tomorrow when i pick it up in the morning and drive it.

howd it go?

curious since i recently dropped my tranny and before, it was shifting smoothe and perfect, only had a couple thousand since i redid my solenoid and sensor, and filter, but after getting it back in last night and filling it up, i cant go above 40 up a hill, wont spin the tires anymore, and wont shift into od. thinking i filled it up to much atf, drained out a lot and brought it down to what i think is the right level, but will bea able to tell in the light tomorrow after work.

well the valve body got replaced and the trucks running good. might need to get it replaced again tho, the pressure regulator for park is clicking excessively and i can feel it in the floors. its a chrysler remanufactured part so its got a 3year36000 mile warranty. just got back from towing the camper up to the mountains and back and no problems the whole way. as far as your problem goes, i would start with the basics of checking the fluids and go from there. good luck buddy

I am throwing a code 1763 Governor solenoid pressure voltage. I am wondering where the harness plugs into the case external of the tranny. I have a connector that is not plugged in and it is joined to the O2 sensor connector. IO know they have a common ground so I am wondering if the previous owner neglected to plug it in after some work. Just want to cover the bases before I drop the pan. any help?
