Ive heard people talk about swapping heads from a 318 to a 360 block. Anyone done it, anyone have proof of it working well?? Thanks

the 318 and 360 heads are the exact same head. so yea itll work, but wont give you more horsepower being the same thing. the difference in the 318 and 360 is the size of the bore. and thats it.

well i went to a mechanic and he said that it'll more than likely give me more compression. i figured if it did that then a new cam and rods and lifters would make it work great. but hey it was just a drunk night discussion haha

well im not sure what cc the chambers are but it should work great with a good set of heads. get the heads decked and that'll give ya a little more compression. but you gotta make sure you got the right length pushrods n what not.

Friend of mine did it, says he's getting great mileage with it. Also says torque will "pull down the gates of Hell".

I don't really see how there could be much difference if any at all the. the heads, valves, and everything else are all the same part number and both heads have the same size and shape combustion chamber.

318 heads will give you more power on a 360 block. From my experience no the heads are not the same.

the 318 runs about 8.5:1 compression and will be about 8:1 or as low as 7.5:1 with the J heads of the 360

this site has about anything that involves 318/340/360 engines
