Default Question about installing roll pan.

I'm thinking about installing a roll pan on my 06. My rear bumper is currently at the powder coater (getting blacked). I've noticed how much I like the profile with the bumper off. Question is, how do I remove the thick tow package bar behind the bumper. There is a video of a roll pan install on Youtube where the guy just cuts it off (don't wanna go that route). Others have said the bed needs to be lifted 6 inches. I know certain members on this site have roll pans. I'm just looking for some insight. Thanks!

The easiest way to get to all the bolts on the receiver hitch is to lift the bed.

What i did was, took out the bed bolts, then put the 2 front ones back in a turn and a half,so as not to lose position. You only jack up the bed enough to slide out the rear trailer tube unit off the frame no need to jack it way up in the air.
