Default Stock Tranny Life

Hello! I'm at 86,500 right now, I don't have any tranny problems right now. Just wondering what kind of life I can expect from it? I drive kinda heavy if that means anything lol. Any info will help, THANKS!!

Avoiding 2nd prime and going to O/D while WOT will prolong your transmission life. Keep an eye on your fluids to make sure it level. Get a temp gauge to keep an eye on its temperature.

I have 117k on mine w/ 4.88 gears - SC3815/SCT stacked - Sharadon Stage III Valve Body - Edge Billet 2800 TC. Also ran a Sonnax Linebooster up until recently.
About to swap out for a 3200 stall.

Its a Edge Billet TC. Brought it used back in May from another member that had it for sale. Looking to have it done on the 16th among other things.

my 'first' stock tranny lasted til 152k miles. That's towing a boat and alot of drag racing.. now, with that said, i went through 3-4 (I lost count..lol) and gettin ready to toast the one i have now (I'm at 201k)... that's the problem with lotsa power, gotta build up the tranny to handle it..

Just keep it serviced and the fluid changed per the recommendations. You'll get some good mileage out of it. If you tow or haul heavy, shorten the service intervals.

If your truck kicks down into 2nd after you're already cruising, it generally goes to 2nd "prime" which i believe is 1.50:1 versus regular 2nd gear of 1.67:1. 2nd prime also runs off of the overdrive clutches though, so that's why it should be avoided for longevity. Dodge's reasoning behind this is up for debate, but hot rodder's and HEMI's surely played a part in the number cruncher's minds...
