Default Why can they do that!

Does anyone else ever wonder why dump trucks are allowed to just drive down the highways/interstates throwing out a seemingly never ending supply of rocks? I do not think I have ever been behind a dump truck that didn't at least hit my windsheild with a rock or 2 and I can always just watch other rocks bouncing down the road behind the truck and off to the side of the road! I just do not understand how that can be allowed! Some of them even have signs saying "We are not responsible for broken windsheilds"! Can I put a sign on the back of my truck that says "I am not responsible for damaged vehicles that I run off the road" and then just drive around practicing the PITT Maneuver? Its very annoying and when I am in my new truck and I see a dump truck, I either slow way down and let a couple cars get between us or I floor it and get past them asap!

I'm not sure where you are from but here in PA it is a law that loads must be tarped and can be fined for not. Whether a driver does or not is another story. The guy I work with gets away with all the time though, its a pain to tarp my girlfriends dads international so he just doesnt usually although its typically mulch or topsoil
I have a cb in my car and my girlfriends truck and have flipped out on drivers a few times for passing me with untarped loads.
What kills me are the guys in triaxles with selftarping beds, they just have to hit a button

Normally it tends to be empty dump trucks and the rocks just fall from underneath the truck and they NEVER stop! I am not sure where they come from but I have had many dings on my windshields and front bumper/hood in the past because of them! None on my new truck yet though thank god! I see big trucks pulling regular old containers with no door in the back of them filled to the roof with what looks like saw dust or something almost every day. It amazes me actually that the stuff hasn't buried another car behind them at a stop sign or red light! I'm just waiting for that day since it seems to be only a matter of time

I definitely sympathize with ya on this one. We have our share of dump trucks and it's the loads of dirt/gravel that really suck. What I don't understand is how they get away without a tarp over it? And even then, those are practically worthless since they're never secured to the load. I have a couple spots on my hood and a couple very small chips in my windshield from that crap but I try to do what you do, slow way down and let someone else in between or hurry the heck up and get ahead of them!
