Yes, that's right, my only concern is the mud that can catch the compressor. I went thru some mud a few weeks ago and my engine was very splashed with mud.
I think the compressor should be able to handle that though.

The kit should have an intake filter so wherever you mount it, you shouldn't have to worry about dirt or dust. The only concern would be water.

I had a ViAir 480 compressor (big ole constant duty compressor) mounted inside the frame rail of my F250 that never had a problem for years, even in rain.
