This device has been around since the 1940s. Another name is the econometer.
I would suggest those in pursuit of mileage buy one and try to drive by it. If you don't get rear ended for accelerating too slow I would guess you'll pick up 2 mpg by driving with one eye on it alone. It will force you to change many of your driving habits!
Basicly it's like driving with a rotten egg ductaped to your gas pedal...

Lastly, it will let you know if a mod you made is going to increase your mileage, or kill it!
I installed one in my a-piller when I put in my trans temp gauge and I love it. helps me keep out of it and tells me what kind of load im putting on the engine.

Default Increase in MPG

Hey guys, read through the post, wanted to give my results. Had 10 mpg in city and on hwy, no matter what i did to change driving, there wasnt much of a difference, and I added a hypertech Energy Max Tuner, along with a HI-Flo cat, to flowmaster 40 series, and the most noticeable difference was the Electric Fan kit, I am running dual 14" fans, to ensure adequate cooling, and only 60 on ebay. All in all i manage 13mpg in city and 15 mpg hwy, and I do not try to drive as slow as possible for these results, totally satisfied, and the tuner set to 93 octane running almost completely fixed the notorious valve chatter.

Did your electric fan come with everything to hook it up?

I plan on doing a tuneup soon too, new cap throttle body cleaning, etc.
