Default Beltronics 995 vs Laser Radar

Beltronics 995 vs Laser Radar, who wins? State of ND uses laser radar. Do I have a chance with the 995? Do I have to drive the speed limit with the Hemi?!

I personally don't think any of them work. I bought a brand new radar detector a few years back and had my father in law (who is a cop) tag me with the gun. We came to the conclusion that the only thing the detector did was tell me I was about to get a ticket.

Nate-Great response! I agree--the best way to avoid a ticket is drive the speed limit. A lot of areas aren't giving you +5 anymore, they are writting it for the exact speed. When the budget is short, tickets and fines increase. Most don't have a quota--they can write as many as they want----LOL

And when you look at the manufacturers the company that makes the radar that cops use generally are the same company that make the detectors. Often times law enforcement have contracts with the company that say they are not allowed to make a detector that will detect their radar for a said amount of time.

If there is other traffic on the road ahead of you that the officer is checking you might stand a chance because you get a little warning. If you're the only one on the road (or in front of the pack) you're toast because all your detector did then is tell you to pull on over and wait for the officer to get to you.

The detectors aren't THAT effective against laser if you're on your own. If you're on the road with plenty of other vehicles, then you normally get some warning and are able to slow down, but if you're on your own, then you're pretty much a gonner. One good thing about laser is the officer has to be stopped to use it properly, so you can log where you see them and then you have them programmed into the detector. I have about 20 in mine so far where they really like to hide out.
