Default Newbie in SoCal

Just purchased a used 2004 Dodge Ram 2500HD Hemi Std cab long bed 2WD w/ 31K miles. Its currently fully stock.

We are quite happy with this truck - its strong and has a pleasant ride. Dealer inspection came back with everything in the green. Just did all fluid changes, plugs, air filter, pcv valve, brake flush and some new wipers.

This truck will see some towing duty for my C6 Z06 on an open trailer. Any tips on towing and protecting the car while in tow would be appreciated!!

Glad to be here - looking to make some friends and learn some things

Welcome to the forum!

There are several ways to protect the body of what you are hauling from debris kicked up by your rear wheels.

1. Install a full width debris flap (like you see on RV's) across the back of your truck. You can get these for your truck at an RV dealer and some kits can be put on for towing, then removed easily with a set of lock pins or clevis pins.

2. There are front facing shields people use with their Class A & Class C RV's that mount to the front of the trailer, deflecting debris away from the front of the towed vehicle.

3. Lastly, while options 1 & 2 are often used simultaneously, they do not protect against other debris that is kicked up by winds or other vehicles. I have seen folks cover their cars (a good all weather car cover with a set of cable straps to secure it to a trailer side rail) to protect against any and all debris kicked up.

Love the Z06 'Vettes!
