Default Help with lifting question...

Hi, so I wanted to lift my truck-1997 SLT Laramie v8 1500 2wd but I dont want to go crazy high, just a few inches. I want to do it as easy as possible since I dont have experience doing this. I was curious if I would be able to use a 3" block kit in the rear and a 3" coil spacer in the front? Would that be sufficient or am I missing quite a bit to the process? Oh, and how hard would installing coil spacers be? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

yea it will work fine, and coil spacers are simple to install. youll need to get a coil spacer compresser tho. either that or look into a body lift... couple hundred bucks, they're pretty cheap

Ok, thats what I was hoping for. I would like to do this in my garage and make it simple as can be. I was looking for info on a body lift but have heard bad things about it. I also called a couple tire places and they told me a suspension lift is the proper way to do it. Is there anything I should be aware of before proceeding?
Thanks!

Oh also would I need to replace the shocks at the same time?

You don't have to as the lift is small. Coil spacers are made for the original shock. But it would deff be the perfect time to do it as both front and rear will be disconnected. Its pretty simple so you'll be fine. Body lift wise people give them a bad rap because it is kinda a cheaters way to get bigger tires and does nothing for ur suspension. But alotta the big mudders out here combo a 5 inch suspension and a 3 inch body lift to get an 8 inch. I've done it before and I'll do it again. Another pro to a body lift is it also preserves the original ride quality, some people are attached to that. Personally I like a rough and solid suspension . Hope this helps. Post up some pics before and after too

Cool, I appreciate all the info. Its starting to make sense now between a body lift and suspension lift-I was pretty confused between the two. As long as I have no issues using the coil spacers and lift blocks I think I may proceed with it. I was thinking the same thing about changing the shocks too-since I'm under there I may as well replace them.
Thanks again!
