i have a 2010 ram 1500 like everyone else.Only 1 connector. i read your thread on how to hard wire the oem controller, but im not clear on where to tie in.I know what wires i need, i see where the wires are spliced together, 1 comes from fire wall to splice, then 1 wire goes up towards dash and the other goes towards speedometer. Now where do i splice in at? the wire from firewall, the wire that goes up to dash or wire that goes towards speedometer.
Any help would be appreciated. This has been a big headache trying to fiqure this out.
thanks Kevin

Since the wires all have a common splice, I don't think it matters which wire you pick to tap into. I picked the one that was easiest to get the T-tap around in proximity to the back of the controller. To be honest, I don't recall which wire I specifically selected.

I have a 2011 with what looks like the two connectors on 2010. Will this work?

Default Brake Controller Install

This is a great post. Got my controller installed following the instructions and photos on this post. I like to add one thing on the side panel. I did not use any tool.

Slide your hand behind the instrument panel, from the left side of the steering column towards the door, and you could feel the plastic clip for the side cover. Gently push on it and the side cover panel pops out. Not tools to scratch anything up.

Hope it helps.

Thanks to your post, I've got this controller installed by my local Dodge dealer (didn't overcharge me in labor either, $35.00 for install I think was reasonable
I went to an aftermarket parts dealer and he was trying to convince me there was no such thing and that I had to get an aftermarket brake controller. Told him no, wires are right above parking break. He didn't believe me. What an idiot not going back there again
I walked out and went to Dodge to get it done. Shows on EVIC too

I have a 2011 that has both 4pin and 7pin connectors. I can only find one connector (the big one). I see Ken99 has an solution for this but I also read that some people were talking about a pigtail/kit that was due out late 2010 or early 2011 that may have the 'B' connector in it. Is this true? Does anyone have a part number? Also I think that all I really need to use on the 'B' connector is the B3 pin for power if I don't want to use the evic features, is this true?

According to my local parts manager, an "official" retrofit kit will never be made available from Chrysler/Dodge. I see some dealers are offering kits online, but the part numbers shown for the controllers do not match for the ITBM. I'd be cautious and ask first if the controller in these kits is the true Integrated Trailer Brake Module (Dodge part #56029431AH) for in-dash installation. I suspect the kits are using an aftermarket unit, which is likely a perfectly good proportional controller, just not the one made to go in the dash by Dodge.

Not true. All three pins of the "B" connector have to be wired for the ITBM to work regardless of whether you intend to have the EVIC reprogrammed or not.
