Don't spin street tires before a race. Street tires actually have more traction when they're cold. Especially if you run on a track...don't spin them before a run.

And...as far as yours running so well. A lot of factors to that...may have just got a good one (two of the same exact vehicle can be completely different). Also, more times than not, running a vehicle balls to the wall straight out of the showroom actually breaks them in differently, and for some odd reason, they usually run better than vehicles that are ran easily and only beaten on occasionally. Or...just simply it could be different since its an R/T...lol

But...for example, my 98 Ram SS/T with 160k miles of mostly full throttle ran better than another 98 SS/T I drove with 90k with more mods. Its weird...but, it happens...lol

I beat my poor R/T pretty bad when I first got it, although I only did 2 or 3 hard launches before I reached 1,500 miles. Since then, I've done at least 25 hard launches and I once drove it 105 miles an hour for 10 minutes straight!

It's funny when you dish out the money for new tires you won't do a burnout for a LONG time lol. When I bought my truck with worn out good for a years I was spinning tire every time I accelerated. A few months ago I dished out over $1000 for new tires and have chirped them a few times, and every time I do my stomach turns....lol

I always buy the best wear rating I can(I don't even like going below 400), because the way I see it I'm going to burn them up whether they are sticky or hard, so I might as well try and get some that last longer. Also remember, once you put a tire through one rough heat cycle it will be ruined. If you have a sticky tire and do a big burnout and get the tire really hot really fast, then stop and let the tire cool, the rubber is ruined and won't stick like it would have if you hadn't spun them. Sticky tires are for the drag strip

Yeah...I put a set of Toyo Proxes STs on mine, 285/60/17 car tread, and, they're sticky...as a matter a fact, my truck has to try to spin them, but, only 6000ish miles on them and they're already halfway through their life. They are wearing evenly though, which I don't understand...haha.

I'm going back to the Goodyear Eagle GTIIs next time, though. They aren't sticky and spin easily, but...I was getting 40,000 miles out of a set of tires that were abused very harshly...lol.

40,000 miles on abused tires is really good! I'm just glad I'm not in the situation my friend is in with his camaro....2 new tires every 4 months...ouch. He's had the car since 2005, says he's run about 30 rear sets of tires since then...and only 2 sets of fronts!!!

Oh, and tires for a 12" wide wheel aren't cheap^^!!! LOL he buys the cheapest tire he can, I think sumitomo, and they are like $100-150 a piece. That's like $6,000 - $9,000 in rear tires since he's had the car!

I checked my stock R/T tires and they have tread wear rating of 500! No wonder I can't get any traction.
