Default Exhaust

So I am looking into getting a new exhaust system for my 09 Ram with the 5.7L HEMI. The current exhaust system is just the single outlet. I want to upgrade a little bit of power, sound and of course go dual outlet exhaust. I want something that sounds good at idle, driving through the city and highway, including when the engine kicks into 4 cyc mode going down the highway. Probably looking for a cat-back system.

So any suggestions of systems to look into. Searches on YouTube do help, but is quite overwhelming since there is so many set ups out there.

You can get any of the catback kits made for a stock dual exit truck and buy the bumper for another 200 bucks or so if you want! I love the Magnaflow sound and Borla!

Almost all the muffler mfgrs have a single in/dual out muffler available.

The longer the case of the muffler, the quieter it will be.

You can probably just do a muffler swap and keep the stock tailpipes as they have resonators and will cut down on the resonance drone in the pipes. Most catbacks don't have resonators on them.

Good luck with your choice.

OBTW, I like Magnaflow too.

I would just swap the mufflers, but I heard when you just replace them and when the MDS turns on, it sounds like crap. I don't want that since my truck does see a few highway long halls a year.

It does if you run a loud muffler, the Magnaflow 22" is good at handling drone and still sounds good, plus you get the performance enhancing flow!

I am starting to lean that way. I like the looks and sound of replacing the Y-pipe and then getting 24" magnaflow with dual pipes out.

I have an 18" single in / dual out Magnaflow and no resonators. It sounds good but my MegaCab does not have MDS on it.

If ya go with that 24" Magnaflow and keep the stock tailpipes with resonators, you should not experience that resonance drone.
