for that price have the dealer install a remote start and you get 2 new keys and remote start for most likely less money!

there are instructions in the owners manual to program a 2nd key. maybe check the service manual they have posted at the start page of this section
4th gen's trucks you cant program yourself you need the dealer to program it to the WCM.

I've seen that mentioned a few times : $231 for the kit, but how much is labor?? Does Dodge hit you up for two (2) programming charges @ $75 each on top of the actual installation of the module/wiring?? Could end up being $500 or more quite easily. I'm don't really want remote start, I don't think it is a good idea unless you live in Alaska or someplace similar.

I've found a locksmith who says he can provide a new key and program it for $150, so that's $75 less than Dodge AND he comes to my house.

Oh - that would REALLY suck! I hope these &*^&&@#*&)^%$$ security keys work, and actually prevent someone from stealing a RAM truck. (But they are still too expensive!)

I'm actually more worried about damaged or broken Fobik - it's too big to lose easily!

Let us all know how it turns out!!! $70 for a new key is an excellent price (comparatively anyway)

No the programming is part of the install, I purchased my rs as part of the deal when i bought my truck, I have read install runs about $150-175.

I actually got two keys when I got my truck...problem was my second key was three hours away riding around with my wife. She came to my rescue and brought her key to me. My lost key was picked up by my customers lawn guy and he actually brought it back by the office the next day. I now keep a spare in a secret place on my truck just in case. It is hard to get your truck to a dealership if you don't have a key to crank it!!

When I bought my truck from the dealer, it only had the one key. We set it up with the parts guy to get one. The problem is there is a supposed shortage and we have been waiting for 2 months now. Anybody know any truth to this. It appears every dodge after 2009 uses the same style.

just looked again at my owners manual, you are correct it says if I have 2 working keys I can program a 3rd blank key myself. Thanks for catching that! I'll just go to the dealer to get a spare I guess
