Default Two way radio mounting

Any suggestions/pictures of mounting CB and/or two-way FM radios in a standard cab 2011 Ram 2500 column shift w/o center consol? Would put it infront of center seat like in my 1996, but would not be able to get to the release for the lower storage unit. Also anybody have experience as to where not to mount antennas so as not to interfer with ECM. Had one guy in town mounted his FM antenna to passenger front fender on his Chevy. Would kill the motor whenever he keyed the mike.

what's the size of the radio? i just did a 257HP in dash in my 1500
also, i'm running dual whips off a backrack and a wilson 5000 magnet mount on the roof and there's no interference to truck electrics

latest radio

May i suggest the being as you do NOT have a center console
mount a CB either where the cup holders are at the bottom of the dash or below them
not many people want a roof mount antenna, there are many mounts that bolt to the bed

I been wanting to mount a HAM radio as well in my truck. but with many new HAM radios having remove heads I might just put it on the A post or make a visor mount for it, if i can find a place for the base and for the mic to come up.

I unfortunately don't have a pic for you, but in my '04 I had my Yeasu Ham radio head mounted in my seat center console, which I will do the same on my '11 as the console is almost the same. Try and get a radio that comes with, or can get a head separation Kit. This way you can do a clean install, and mount the actual transceiver unit elsewhere. In my case it was under the drivers seal. Good luck..

P.S.- I've never seen CB radios with head separation, but I believe they make ones that have the microphone built into a hand control unit with all functions present.

any CB can be converted to a remote head unit

it just needs some longer wiring, a few connectors, & some molded sheet metal to cover the face of the unit & 2 or 4 screws

Never thought about converting the CB to remote faceplate. My two-way is a Motorola SM120. don't know about the ability to convert it.
