Smile Opinion on removing stock muffler

Was wondering if anyone had any info for me. I have an 06 Ram 1500 Hemi and was wanting to change the exhaust. If I were to just remove the stock muffler and put straight pipe would I loose power? Cause I do like the sound of that exhaust. Or should I just fork out the money and buy one. If I buy one I would like to get the Flowmaster 50 American Thunder(17423). Any opinions would be awesome!! Thanks!!

Are you worried about losing horsepower "down low". Removing the muffler will give you a few ponies and give you the noise you want and as long as you dont remove the stock cats you wont experience too much of the "around town sluggishness" that most people associate with straigh pipes

I had mine dumped before the muffler so all I had was manifolds and the y pipe. No loss of power at all

You won't lose any power with removing the muffler.

Do they require vehicle inspections in your part of Ohio? If so, running no muffler will make you fail very quickly. We dont' have them here in Columbus, but I know a lot of Northern Ohio requires them. Just something to think of. Oh and I use to run with no muffler in my old V8 Grand Cherokee with the 318. Was a wonderful sounding vehicle.

They don't require any inspections up here. My old truck had no cats with a flowmaster. I just wasnt sure if i would lose any power, didn't really wanna do that since I just got my programmer and that. I'm hoping with opening up the exhaust will let my baby breath a little and be over 400hp with the programmer!! Thanks guys!!
