Default Shift kit???????

I have a 1998 5.9 v8! I am new to the truck world! i just turned 16 and the guy i bought the truck from said that it had a shift kit put in it and thats all he knew. so i guess what i am asking is what is a shift kit? is it real? and if so what does it do?

A shift kit is pretty much a shift improver. Can either include valve body modifications, or go as far as a complete clutches, springs, and valve body. Generally it will increase the pressure on the clutches causing a firmer shift, which actually prolongs the clutch life since there is less slippage.
