Default Difference K&N to Volant CAI

Can anyone tell me the largest Difference btw. K&N CAI and the Volant CAI System?

Which ones gives you better air flow - better power?

Are open CAI in the US legal?
In Switzerland they arent, so im maybe heading out for a Volant, which is semi-open

Have a AirRaid Myself, so can't help you between those two systems.

Got to say I was pretty impressed with my system!

The difference between the two would be so minimal that you probably would not feel any difference.

I am a fan of K&N as I have used their filters for years with no problems and they have excellent customer service. Volant is a very nice intake as well. You really can't go wrong with either of your choices.

Here's pics of my K&N Aircharger installed:

I love the Volant. I noticed a performance gain, but I also got the tranny flash so im assuming most of what im noticing is, is the flash. Also love the way the engine roars now when you giver lil throttle, specially on highways.

By definition I'm pretty sure its one of the only true "CAI"s cause its completely boxed in and restricted to cold air. I cant see the rubber seal to the hood to be as effective to seal engine heat.

Edit:
Add some more info

Yes, the boxes are designed so that the hood acts as a lid to those open top designs

Thats an old picture!

I also added some split pipe insulation so it makes better contact with the hood.

I don't have a decent picture of it, but Im sure it does a better job at keeping the engine heat out, cheap 3$ addition
