forgot to mention if you slam on the gas right when it shifts into the gear u want it then it will stay running until you go to stop or when it should idle then it will try and die. just cranked it up to move the truck out of the garage and it had no problems. wtfff

I'm with RamTech. I would lay my $$$$ on the Torque Converter giving you the issues. I'm facing the exact same issue with my '06 with the hemi. Really pisses me off to spend that kind of money on a newer truck with hopes of a realiable vehicle just to have more issues than my ex-sheriff car with 400K on it. This is what I found to buy a "new" converter for most vehicles: TorqueConverter1.com I found one for my truck for $150...refurbished, but it'll get me by for now until I get a TCI Stage II but it's $410+

I would try another IAC.

Basically what the IAC does is when its at idle and when there's a load. The PCM adjusts the IAC valve (the pintle) to allow air to prevent it from stalling or idling too low. Its a stepper motor and it either moves the pintle in or out.

Try it out. Based on my experience, a bad sensor will not always throw the CEL. And its easy to access. IAC is located on the back of the TB. If it doesn't work, i'm with RamTech.

Default Help me!

I know this is an older thread, but it was never reported what the final diagnosis was. I am having the EXACT same problems right now with my '98 2500. If you could, can you please let me know what you came up with, as this thing is starting to force me to pull my hair out. As soon as the truck warms up, it starts to backfire and pop like its only running on 4 cylinders, until it finally stalls out. Idles just fine, and only does it as soon as I put the truck in gear. Thanks for help in advance.
