Default How to remove adhesive gunk?!

So the other day I was removing the "chrome" paneling on the interior of my truck (the guy I bought it from had a bunch of crappy fake "chrome stickers" all over the doors and the dash). I was able to remove it along with the adhesive it left behind (I still have a little more to do but I ran out of time to finish).

My problem is that the adhesive left residue everywhere that it was attached. Iv tried the GooGone adhesive remover but its not doing anything. Am I just applying it wrong or is there something else I can do? I was thinking of possibly taking it to a detail shop and seeing if they could do anything but I wanted to ask on here first before I spend more money than I really need to.

Ill post pictures of what it looked like before and after I removed the paneling later today (My computer is being a PIA and not letting me upload photos).

On a good note though, I used a paint stripper to remove the paneling and it worked wonders!

That's a good question that I'm curious to see some insight on as well, never thought about what's good to use on the interior.

This might be a way way too simplistic a reply, but if the adhesive residue is still sticky, have you tried WD-40 and rubbed firmly with a towel?

don't use wd-40...it's silicone based and will stain vinyl and leather.

Try some 3M Adhesive Remover. Works like a charm and won't hurt interior surfaces. Just don't let it sit too long. In fact, moisten a clean rag with it vs. spraying it directly on the part.

Yes there are several adhesive removers that should be safe for that application....googone has never worked for me.

Wow that chrome was tacky! Some people have very odd taste, it's like they don't know what to do so they just buy anything they can to say they did something lol. I've noticed the past year or so that the big craze is the stick on fender cowl emblem things.

He had a whole bunch of "chrome" stuff all over the car. Iv been able to remove most of it without any problem. Its just the inside stuff that comes off and leaves residue behind and looks worse.

The funny thing is the "chrome" on the inside wasnt even the worst part. He had bull balls chained to the trailer hitch too. AND didnt take them off when he sold it to me because "you can have them if you want, or heres the key to the lock to take them off" which meant: I cant undo the lock so you figure it out.

I had to get bolt cutters to cut the chain to get those off. Thankfully that was the day after I bought it.

If it means anything I used a plastic one. It was pretty much the same thing as using a grouter. When I bought the GooGone it came with a little tool thing but it wasnt much help so I went out and found the next best thing!
