Default Debadging Issue

Hey all, so just like a lot of you have done, I decided to pull the badges and moldings off my 05 QC. I pulled the passenger side molding first and after some 3M adhesive remover and a quick polish and wax you cant even tell they were there. Then on to the driver's side. I pulled to molding off and had a dark shadow outline around the molding just like the other side. After a thorough working with the adhesive remover I had no success. Tried the polishing compound with my buffer and no luck! Since I didn't have any rubbing compound handy I went straight to the 2000 grit but still cant get the line off. The paint is smooth to the touch and I got the gloss back after sanding and polishing but the outline is still there. Do you think the truck could have been painted on that side at one time? The carfax was clear when I bought it but I know that doesn't mean anything. I will try to get some pics up soon bu does anyone have any ideas short of sanding and blending in some new paint? The color is the Mineral Grey Metallic (PDM I think for the code but I will have to verify).

now idk if its what i think it is but usually on an older truck itll be harder to take off since its baked longer, but alot of guys will tell you that itll eventually go away, just takes time...wash it and just keep an eye out for it and hopefully it fades away...

I had one on my SRT car (it was almost brand new!!!) and I ended up getting the clear coat buffed out at the dealer's body shop. Looks all fine now!

I have never seen anything like that. It might be worth while to have a local body shop look at it, and possibly give you some advice... or at least an explanation to what would cause that.

Pulled out the clay bar and tried but got nowhere. I liberally sprayed the 3M into the molding before removing it and used a plastic applicator to separate the adhesive, leaving quite a bit on the door panel, just like the other side so I don't think I pulled The clear off. There is a distinct lip that follows the black line which is why I was thinking that there may have been a re-clear applied to part of the door.
