Saw it happen, Shorty. A buddy of mine bought a used Chevy 1/2T 4X4 with about 50K miles on it. Switched over to synthetic and within 8K miles had leaks at the seals.

It was explained to me that the seals had conformed to having regular dino oil and the synthetics, being blended chemicals, had a different viscosity profile. The seals apparently got confused and gave up.

No because dealers realize that synthetics don't break down (lose their viscosity) as quickly as conventional oil. Some mfgr's recommend or require synthetics in some of their engines, like my 6.1L HEMI in the SRT8.

Now, they won't decrease the interval on my Chrysler just because it came with, and continues to be filled, with 0W-40 synthetic. It still gets regular changes every 3K miles. As long as you regularly service, and check, your vehicle's lubrication, no warranty issues should arise.

Royal Purple for all lubs. I use it in my oil, trans, and rear diff. It keeps the truck running cooler and its more responsive when u hit the gas. Im in Fl and i use 10w30 oil just cuz i always ran that in my vehicles but I always use RP now!!!!! E3 plugs make it a great combo, thats why the shows use them but u can get them much cheaper online.
