Converter is included. You specify stall speed. Naturally you can pop for a billet converter, but the one included is plenty stout for the intended use of up to 500hp. They also ask what you want in the shift kit. Level 1 is HD towing, level 2 is street/strip, level 3 is full manual. Also added the rigid Kevlar band they offered over the flex band. This was a couple years back but it was a good experience. Unit was fully crated and I will be a repeat customer. I mean just look at all the goodies they have for us Mopar nuts. For warranty purposes, they require use of their Raptor Blood transmission fluid. Probably still do. Costs more than generic ATF+4 but it's better too. It's not like you have to change every 4000 miles.

sounds good to me! I have low gearing (4.56) in my truck, will I need to tell them that? Do they build for specific gear ratios? I am really just wanting my truck to drive like it should. But between the big tires and low gears the 46RE just isn't cutting it. And I have a camper to tow around as well. Would I want to install a larger trans cooler with the viper trans or is it even needed?

Thanks again for your help

As I recall we talked about a few things. I told the guy what I was doing and we talked about going with the 5.0 kickdown arm, and agreed that'd be too much, especially on wet roads in a pickup. It'd just hit too hard. Spoke about which level on the shift kit. I wanted to be sure it'd give me full manual control when I wanted it. They even thought to ask if I was changing gears or wheels and if I'd need a different set of gears for my speedo drive. Mine has the mechanical drive. I have no reason to think they'd be less helpful now. It's a tough thing, the cost, but you'll be light years ahead with every mile. Much stronger than a typical rebuild. Positive action. All-around major improvements that make you grin like a fool. If only they came from the factory that way.
The front three section of the transmission is nearly indestructable, even built with cheap clutches dictated by bean-counters. It's the dadgum overdrive. My original A500 burned up 6!!! times under warranty on my '89 Shelby. Never towed a thing. Every 15-20k it'd die. Always a burned up OD. And the Shelby had an external cooler. The aftermarket fixed the OD issues and now we have great choices. Absolutely get a high capacity cooler. Heat is the enemy, no matter who builds your transmission. Get rid of the check valve in the transmission return line (runs from radiator to transmission, you'll need to determine which is from trans, and which is return). You don't need the check valve with the aftermarket kits. These kits also allow converter charge in park, not just neutral. This is safer as you can check your fluid while in park. Anyway, tell 'em what ya got and wanna do and hash out the details. They'll set you up right. I have to say, they're not the only game in town(TCI and SMR come to mind). I just have actual experience with PATC.

Thanks a lot. That was a question I had asked on here before and got no answers, was if there are any other companies that make good tranmissions for our trucks. Guess I will start to do some research. Thanks

All in all it just depends on how much money you want to put into the truck.. I'm in the same dilemma where I need more power out of my 318, yet I have a tranny going to crap. My front end is darn near brand new with all the money there and other odd an end stuff but once the tranny is done, I can go back to playin with it. I myself would rather pay to fix the truck that I have no payments on, and when it is done I KNOW I have a good solid truck that will last a long time.
