Red face Gas?

Could it be that you got a load of gas with water in it? Since it started after you filled it, I would definitely check for that. It ran fine before the fill up, why not after?

I just reread this thread....I highly doubt it's a timing chain issue. The only possible explanation related to the timing chain would be a tensioner going bad and maybe the chain skipped a tooth.....but I've never heard of that happening with a chain, not even sure if it's possible...

It sure sounds like some sort of computer/electronic problem. If it were the timing chain it should constantly be bad, not like you said where it is somewhat better sometimes.

I was giving this some thought, and remembered the 4.7 has 3 timing chains....not 2. The small one connects the crankshaft to the Idler, which has 2 additional chains to the 2 heads. Sorry for the omission...in this case, I believe it's pertinent, as a jumped cog in the primary would affect both camshafts.

I am of the same opinion, but experience tells me to accept the strangest things....if they happen.
