Default MADDOG and others Looking to purchase

I know I want to go with Magna Flow exaust. I've heard not to go true duals because you may lose to much back pressure. I also was told to buy a new y pipe. What do I need to purchase for the best results?! I would like duals but I'd take results over looks anyday.

Plans for the truck are Intake, Exaust, Preditor, T Stat, headers ??? I may look into a cam but I'd look for something drop in. I'd prefer not to kill my gas milage as well. I'm not worried about when I step on it, for nice take it easy driving. Keep the cats, lose the cats, looking for all the details.

What do you recommend?! Thanks in advance!!!

John, I'd recommend:

1. Replace your Y-pipe. The stock one is really restrictive.
2. You can go duals but the pipe routing on the driver's side is problematic due to the fuel tank. You won't lose low end torque as long as you don't go too big on the pipe size and you add an x-pipe. So stick with 2.5 to 2.75 inch pipe. You can go with the size of tips you want.
3. It's easier, and cheaper, to go with the Y-pipe and a single in/dual out muffler. You still get the looks of a dual system.

An intake, the exhaust and a programmer are the basic three mods that really make a difference.

If you do a cam, then go with headers and a set of high flow cats. This is also a good reason to do a dual exhaust system if your plans ultimately include a cam and headers.

Keep the cats and avoid the check engine lights.

Thank you very much for the reply! I will now begin looking into prices and where I can have this stuff installed around here. Going by your advice I'm looking at the following:

180t stat, 2.75" True dual exaust, New Y pipe, add X pipe, High flow cats, Preditor Tuner, (already have a K&N Intake) Headers, and finally the last thing I'll do is the Cam unless I should do this in a different order. I'm also going to do the efan but I am going to need to find someone in South Florida that knows how to do that because it's not something I want to do myself. I can change oil, brakes, rotate tires...the basic stuff...getting in over my head with that stuff.

Should I do headers before an exaust? Or is that something I should do all at once?

Does this look like a good order or should I mix this around differently? Can't wait to get all this done, the truck is quick but the above should make a big difference! I may look into 6.1 heads down the road as well.

Well if you are doing a custom true dual exhaust there will be no y pipe

Getting everything down on paper, doing more research and plan on pulling the trigger soon. I'm also looking at going to an SRT hood w/ ram air but I'm not sure what gains I would get or if it's even worth it considering I already have the k&n.

I am actually planning on taking this a bit further it looks. What would be the next few steps after the above mods? I think I'm going to shoot for around 450+hp...

I also heard someone got around 15hp from putting in new wiring for better spark? I know a new torque converter would be in order at some point.

Thanks in advance!!!
