Hi everyone, I,m Steve from the Uk. I need to advice from you guys. One of my trucks is a 1997 5.9L petrol Laramie.
The oil pressure light starter to come on after about 5 minutes of tickover. To try and cure this I have changed oil pump, oil pickup, oil pressure sensor, plenum gasket, oil, oil filter. I have put an oil pressure gauge on and it reads fine.
It has recently ocurred to me that I may be barking up the wrong tree. The tickover is very low and I suspect this may be why the oil light is coming on. I have studied the manual but there does not seem to be any adjustment to the idle tickover. I know the adjustment is possible with diesel engines but not so with petrol.

Thanks in advance guys if there is anyone that can shed some light on this I would be most grateful.
Steve

You said that you put on a additional oil pressure gauge. What does it read when the light comes on? If it is good you might have a problem with the light itself. Other wise I think that you have to go into the computer to change the idle.
