Default Tip Start Glow time seems forever

Ok guys I've let my monster sit for 4 weeks. I've been laid up in the hospital with kidney stone issues. I have to store the beast at work as I live in within the confinds of a HOA. No vehicles can display truck tags and be parked with in the association property for more than 48 hours at a time. I'm tring to get around this and have agreed to several rules in order to park it at home. Had I known the truck tags would have caused an issue I would have bought differently.

I got to work this morning and the remote start refused to work. The horn worked fine and nothing else. The display said I had to manually start it with the fobik. So I did so. It took forever for the glow time to go off. It started without a fuss once the light went off.

I let it idle for 5 minutes and shut it down with the fobik.

I tried to restart it using the fobik and it started right-a-way. Thinking problem solved.

Not! This afternoon I tried to start it again using the fobik and got the same end result as in the morning.

Did the system loose the fobik codes? Also what's up with the glow time/tip start process taking so long. It was starting like a gasser! Do I need to start the beast every few days so this won't happen?

This is my first diesel engine and remote start vehicle. The remote start is factory OEM. I'm beginning to think this is over my head. Every step of owning this has been a project. I feel like I need to write a book. "Keeping up with american tin and keeping it running"

Bump - Anything!

OK the EVIC is saying:

Remote start disabled

Start vehicle to reset

What does this mean? Trouble in River City? Ugh!

I've restarted it like it says to do. Let it idle. Shut it down. A few hours later it goes back into the remote start disabled mode.

Have you actually driven it at all? If you haven't then I would first try driving it around a bit. Battery may be getting low in either your truck or your keyfob.... not really sure just suggestions...All else fails call the dealer.

Sorry about the stones! I know that must hurt!

Usually it depends on temperatures and they seem to take a little more to start after they've sat for a bit. It might try to start it self and after the set cycle time without starting it disables the remote start to keep the motor hurting itself. These trucks will blow the freeze plugs out if they started when it's to cold but I'm not sure it ever gets that cold in Virginia lol

It'd been sitting since August 17th.

I just went back to work this past Monday the 19th.

This morning it did the same thing. I tried the other fobiks and got the same result. So it's the truck and not the fobiks.

Tomorrow I plan to take it out for a spin. I'm trying not to bounce off the walls just yet to let the kidneys heal. Thats why I have not taken it out for a spin. The thought of bouncing the kidneys all over the place is not setting well in the ole brain matter as it results in much pain. I've only been postop 4 days since the last proceedure. I need the kidneys to live the truck not!

I'll post tomorrow evening and let everyone know the scoop.

Almost ready to publish that book!

Follow-up on the issue:

The issue was not the fobiks but in the truck itself. I drove the truck around for several days.

Actually had some time and stopped by the dealer and asked without checking it in. The tech explained that if I don't drive it on a regular basis that would happen. Also I noticed that I had the phone charger plugged in, which is not on the ignition key causing more battery drain.

So a combination of letting it sit and the battery draining caused the remotes to not work the remote start.

So I let it sit for a few days. Been working fine ever since.
