Well if you want to save fuel, you have to accellerate "quick" to your end driving speed, then just hold that speed.
"long" accelleration raises the fuel usage, even if this sounds strange for some guys.
Which doesent means you do kickdowns all the time, but remember this example:
You accellerate 20 seconds until you reach "your" speed.
or you accellerate 10 seconds until you reach "your" speed.
means you drive allredy 10 seconds in highest gear and save fuel and used a little more fuel for accelleration.
But this thingy may change immediatly when you have a stop-n-go track.
