Default 2009 4x4 hemi CEL on

check engine light was on in my 2009 truck. I took my truck to the dealership and they said code was P1004 and replaced intake short runner and also stud, wiring etc. This all happened around 36000 miles at the end of factory warrenty. I also noticed the FUEL SAVER light started working this never worked before. Well everything worked fine for around 2000 miles then CEL comes on again the FUEL SAVER light quits working again, and When you start the truck with remote it will run for a few seconds then shut off. I took the truck back to the dealer as soon as this happened thinking this was same problem as before. They checked for codes and said the code was showing a missfire on one of the cylinders and the problem was sparkplugs needed replaced and fuel system needed cleaned/flushed. Cost around $500.00 I find this hard to believe with only 38000 miles and truck seems to run fine. Ive never felt a miss at all. Anyone else with similar problems.

Welcome to the forum.

This sounds a bit premature for plugs, however, since you had the prior problem the plugs may have given up a bit early.

You can do this maintenance yourself and save some bucks. You need plugs (stick with the stock ones) and you can clean your own fuel system with an in-tank cleaner and some cleaning of your throttle body.

Then, get a catch can and install it. This will significantly reduce the amount of oil that goes back into your intake from the PCV system.
