Excellent information and thanks....but you would think a 40k truck would have a ready dip stick to read with out any scribing of any thing!!!!

Engines that cost considerably more than the whole truck come with those instructions in the owners manual. The only difference is that its usually not specified in quarts. You will find in most cases the sticks are off a little. In an engine with 10.5 gallon oil capacity I found it was off by about 1/2 gallon. That would be equivalent to about 0.33 Qt in a Hemi.
