Default Y-pipe

Does the 2008-??? have a Y-pipe?
If so where is it located, where the headers come together in a single exhaust?
If it does have one is it benificial to have it replaced with a aftermarket one?
Which one?

Yes it does and it is where the two 2.5" down pipes from the exhaust manifolds merge together to one 3" single exhaust pipe. Yes it is restrictive and benefits (performance wise) to an aftermarket/custom one. The magnaflow stamped y pipe is great and cheap for the part(like $30) but you need to have it installed also...

Sean thanks for the help. I guess when I take my truck in to have the exhaust done I will get one of these and have them do it as well. Planning on going with a Magnaflow with possibly single to dual exhaust, not real sure though.

No problem, if you want the look of duals then cool, but if it's only for performance there isn't any real benefit to going to duals, just do a single in/single out 3" exhaust all the way back(can just swap the muffler as the stock exhaust is 3")...all depends if you want the look of the duals and tips and all that though...If you go duals I would go with 2.25" dual pipes, 2.5" at the largest.

Post back with what you end up doing

My truck came with a single in dual out exhaust and I love it. Maybe I should grab myself a Y-pipe if it doesn't have one. When you say "...but you need to have it installed also..." did you mean a shop should do it, instead of doing it yourself? Or, was that just a friendly reminder that the $30 is only the initial cost?

the part is around $30, but unless you are a welder & have a pipe bender, you will need to have an exhaust shop fab up the proper piping & weld it in.

^yeah, pretty much need it welded in. Blackramhemi posted a way with some mandrel bends and clamps but IMO it's the same price roughly to get it welded in so might as well just do that...
