Default 3.5" speakers in headliner

Hello all, I've been thinking about putting some 3.5" or 4" speakers in my headliner. I don't have the Alpine system, I was going to cut the holes myself. Has anybody done this or seen this if so some advice would be great so I don't screw up my headliner.

IMO, don't do it. From a sound quality standpoint, this is a pretty poor location for rear surround. You'd be better served by a quality set of separates or coaxials in the rear and concentrating on the front soundstage.

If you're dead set on the headliner, I'd recommend a set of JL Audio Tweeter components like these:

Cool, the only reason I was thinking about it was that I have a sub I want to install and the crossover has room for a set of speakers on it. I only thought of this because I put Infinity 6x9 all aoround in the doors but the rears are lacking some highs. I thought if I put some in the rear on the xover it would fill in the empty spot that seems to be there. Anybody other thoughts?????

Dont do it. If you really want highs in the back get a set of tweeters and install them in the rear cab corners.

Any 3.5 or 4" speaker would have to be a very low profile speaker. I just pulled mine tonight and there's not much room above the headliner. Go with the others recommendations and put the tweets in another location.

Dont do it.
There are too many other options that require way less effort.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the advice guys... I installed a pair of these on Sunday, and wow what a diiference, they filled in exactly what I wanted. On another note, I hooked them up to the rear of my 4 ch amp that my rear 6x9 are, will this affect the amp at all?? because the 6x9 are 2 ohm and the tweets are 4 ohm I believe.

I found an excellent placement for tweeters in the dodge ram, at least the standard cab anyway is to build tweeter pods to replace your coat hooks in the headliner. sound incredible in my 2003

Where did you end up mounting them?
