Default tire size and mds

Can anyone tell me if changing the tire size from the stock 275-60-20 to say a 275-65-20 will screw up my mds and not make it work? I had a tire salesman tell me that and not sure if that is correct. Thanks.

I can't see how changing tire size has any affect on MDS, I think the guy is feeding you a line. I went from 33's to 35's on my truck and the MDS could've cared less...

If the tire is larger and heavier wouldnt the engine have to work harder to turn it thus making MDS less likely to come on?

MDS is a factor of engine load. Besides that, the tire guy has gotta stop sniffing his glue:

275/60R20= diameter of 33" x circumference of 103.6"
275/65R20= diameter of 34.1" x circumference of 107"

About a 3% difference.

Wonder why you want to go with a shorter sidewall......in any case, you'll be fine. Find another tire store to deal with.

Ya that guy is a moron! It wont turn it off but if you went to a huge tire like at least a 37 then it would be less likely to come on bc of the engine load. I have 33.5 inch tires and mine comes on all the time and drives me crazy bc i have a cutout and the sound it makes on 4 cylinders sounds crappy. But most people get a programmer to turn off the MDS and thats my future plan.
