Uh, I'm gonna have to say no on this one. While it doesn't look terrible, I have to agree, too much like the Ridgeline with the styling, IMO.

Ugh, definitely not a truck. Does this mean that the only way to buy a Dodge truck will be to go full size? Not impressed by this move. I didnt care for the last model either, I still think the 97-04? were the best looking Dakota's.

Depends on the market. I happen to like it somewhat, but it wouldn't take the place of my real truck. It's more of a truck/suv hybrid. The problem with the ridgeline is they market it as a truck, like comparable to ford, gm, and doge's full size trucks, and it's not even close. the ford version sells well (sport trac? or something like that)...because it's not marketed to do the job of a full size. I think this new dakota would be a good idea and sell well. I still think they need another mini truck (frame and body) to account for that market as well though...

Dodge already discontinued the Dakota platform, not saying they wont bring it back with something of the sort though

I love it, it looks awesome. But it's about as impractical as the day is long, unless someone has a very specific need for such a "truck".

Unibody or not its still a massive improvement over the last two body styles witch were freaking horrible IMO (97-04 are the sexiest) the day they stopped making the 3rd gen kota is the day the Dakota died for me. Then they decided to switch to really ugly styling and the 4.7 was the only v8 option witch if I’m not mistaken replaced the 5.2 and the hemi replaced the 5.9 and that was the biggest reason I fell in love with my kota was because it was a mid size truck with a full size motor granted still not the fastest truck but the most fun to drive so id say if they brought the Dakota back and it somewhat looked like that and had a hemi in it it would sell like freaking hot cakes

^ I agree, the last body style of dakota(and durango) were hideous. The mitsibushi version was actually much better to look at. I think the new 4.7L(08+) was a good engine for that truck though, 310 hp and 330 lb ft. Paired with a manual trans in the dakota is almost a dream truck for me, would be faster and get better mpg. Heck my quad cab ram with auto gets up to 23mpg on the hwy, imagine in a lighter truck and manual gearing.
