Default Can Nav Be Muted

I have a 2009 Laramie and I was wondering is there an easy way to mute the navigation system when a phone call comes in. It is very frustrating to try to have a conversation with a caller when the navigation lady is giving you voice prompts. I know how to adjust the volume of the voice prompts, but is there a setting that will allow me just to mute the nav when I am trying to talk using my hands free phone?

The stereo, nav, and connect has their own volume. When the nav talks just hit the volume down button and problem fixed. Only when it talks does it work.

Do you mean the volume button on the back of the steering wheel or the volume button on the radio, or does it even matter? I thought I remembered that when I turned the volume down I could no longer hear the person I was talking to on the phone.

No you cannot. Unless you are in park or unlocked. But there is no pause. Its navigating or its not.

That is what is so frustrating. Many times I need the nav to keep navigating, all I want to do is mute it briefly so I can finish my conversation then un-mute it and get where I need to be. I don't want to to have to drill down several screens to cut the nav prompt off or cut the nav off. Please somebody tell me I am not asking the impossible.

This is very simple and easy to do. If your on the phone or just want to lower or mute the nav, the voice has to be talking. So either wait for it to talk and lower the volume or just hit the RPT voice prompt icon in the upper right hand corner. It is frustrating but its a breeze after getting it figured out.
