Default oil pressure

I have read some threads on this site that r alot like the problem I'm having. When I start my truck the oil pressure is fine but once the truck is warm and is at idle the oil pressure gauge goes to 0.When I give it some gas it returns to normal pressure. The truck does not run hot and the motor does not make any rattling sounds. Its done this the last 5 or 6 times I've started my truck.I owned a ford many years ago and the pressured gauge started going up and down then when to 0 ,with a few min. the motor started raising h**L so I know what this sounds like. This seems to be different.I replaced the oil pressure sending unit 2 years ago and change my oil after the first time my truck started this(last fri).Could I have a bad dash gauge, something clogging up the in the oil pan or oil punp going bad?

Take out your oil sending unit and tee in a fitting so you can run a mechanical gauge, then check your readings. You may indeed have a bad dash gauge, bad wiring, or bad sensor.

Internally, the oil pump could have excessive wear. If you try a thicker oil, and the pressure increases, this is another area to look at.....

I talked to mechanic that I know and trust (hard to find those around here)that he's never seen a oil pump just go bad. They may get clogged and stop working. Because they r aways lubed by the oil.He said it could be a bad gauge or sending unit.or something internal in the motor. That dont sound good

Just because he's never seen an oil pump go out doesn't mean they don't. No disrespect meant towards your mechanic, but it does happen, Also, oil pumps can wear out- a sign is that your pressure is low/non-existent at idle, but indicates on the gauge under load. Excessive bearing wear (which equals excessive clearance) shows the same symptoms.

First thing I would do is what SeattlePete recommended in his first post....'T' in a mechanical guage.
